Several months ago I had a mystical experience. I was in my car when I thought about one of my sons with whom I have a fractured relationship. We have tried many times to heal but somehow it never happens. On this morning I was doing prayer work when I asked myself, “What went wrong?” Clear as a bell I heard a voice say, “It doesn’t matter, it’s time to heal.” I then asked, “How?” Again I heard the voice say, “Let it be, it will happen, just let it be.” It was a sacred moment for me, just God and I alone in my car, no thinking just feeling the divine presence. Ernest Holmes wrote, “Consider Spirit as a warm pulsating, reciprocal thing. It presses against us. It flows through us. It is our intelligence. It is a great universal urge and surge. It is a warm colorful thing. It is a beautiful thing. It cannot be put into words, you can only feel it.”
I saw a story about a man who visits a dying friend. He asks, “What are you thinking about?” The response is, “Nothing.” His friend writes, “He had a wonderful mind, but in the end it came down to not thinking. He was just feeling, feeling God.” All we need to do is relax into the presence of Spirit.
Piero Ferrucci writes that sometimes we get distracted and forget what counts. We get lost in, “The labyrinth of the irrelevant.” He goes on, sometime it takes asking the right question like, “Where is my soul?” Perhaps that’s the only question worth asking. We each answer in our own way. That is our life search.
